Fine nine does it

NINE goals to none in the second quarter enabled the Lions to take control in the second quarter. The reason: the opposition played the better football in the first quarter.
But eventually Pakenham did what it had to do and won by 138 points.
Simon Ponter was the leading goalkicker with five, Michael Holland dominated in the middle and Joel Padley was his evercreative self. Nathan Brown showed he was back to form after missing most of the year and so did Dimitri Dimakopoulos. Justin Sutherland capped off a stellar homeandaway season in the ruck and John Atwell again displayed his smooth skills.
The seniors now look forward to having a week’s break before participating in the second semifinal next weekend.

A win against bottomplaced Dingley was all that was required by Pakenham to keep its place in the five and be part of the finals. That was successfully achieved by the Lions as they ran out victors by 211 points. The side played tremendously well as a team, with everybody contributing to the result.
The highlight of the match, however, was provided by club stalwart Brett “Bomber” Templeton, who set the crowd alight with a brilliant goal.
The club thanks the umpires and the Dingley Football Club to allow such a memorable moment happen for “Bomber” and the Pakenham Football Club.
The Lions now look forward to taking on Berwick in the elimination final.
