GARFIELD’S Agrade netball team arrived in Maffra for the second semi, ready for a close match with the ladder leaders. This was based on the secondround victory against Drouin in their previous encounter.
But Garfield couldn’t equal that and was outclassed from the start.

B GRADE

The team began the first semifinal against Sale as the underdogs after two defeats at the hands of Sale during the homeandaway season. But Garfield was unfazed, resorting to patience and pressure.
Helen Collis controlled the centre and was instrumental in either delivering the ball into or around the goal circle in timely fashion, enabling the side to capitalise when the ball was in its attacking third.
Lisa Cowburn controlled Sale’s wing attack and prevented it from having freedom to deliver the ball into the goal ring with its usual freedom.
Emma Marsh stepped up to the challenge and played a superb attacking game in the last quarter that gave Garfield the edge to overcome the opposition.
Di Collis established a strong defensive game that put Sale’s goal shooter out of the game. Casey Dawes kept on the pressure in the last half and through the efforts of both defenders Sale was put out of the final.
