RESIDENTS are coming around to the attractions of the Cardinia Cultural Centre.
Cardinia Shire councillor Kate Lempriere said that in the wake of criticism of the centre when it was first established three years ago, she said that she was very happy to report that patronage was well and truly on the rise.
Speaking at council’s 18 September meeting, Cr Lempriere said more than 60,000 people attended functions and events at the cultural centre during the past financial year.
This figure was 20,000 up on the previous year, she said.
“It shows the people of Cardinia are enjoying the cultural centre, they are using it and will continue to use it,” she said.
Prime Minister John Howard was the latest to give his stamp of approval to the centre, attending a community morning tea there last Wednesday.
