RESIDENTS have been warned to be wary of any doortodoor salespeople trying to sell gas and electricity products.
Nationals MP Peter Hall said there had been reports of supposed salespeople claiming the State Government was directing energy consumers to use ‘green power’ and that it was compulsory to allocate part of a consumer’s electricity usage to renewable energy production.
“This is not the case and it seems the scam is an attempt to get people to change their energy suppliers,” Mr Hall said.
“Regardless of the reason, it is important to consider carefully any offers by doortodoor salespeople and I urge people who are approached to change energy suppliers to insist that the salesperson shows identification.
“They should also be able to show an offer summary which outlines the charges and plans that they may be offering.”
