Narre Warren played Buckley Ridges at Noble Park Secondary College, won the toss and elected to bowl with Regan Welburn and Glen Landry getting wickets early. Buckley Ridges then formed a solid third wicket partnership and gave no chances.
To Narre Warren’s credit it kept working hard and eventually got the breakthrough thanks mainly to a great spell of bowling from Dave Bennett. He took 3/28 in a nineover burst and turned the match in Narre’s favour.
He was well supported by Matthew Brew who was unlucky not to take wickets.
Frank Welburn bowled a brilliant spell of leg spin and took 3/34.
Narre restricted Buckley Ridges in the field and made it difficult to score, keeping its total to 217.
