Big buzz as school project starts

STUDENTS and staff at Gembrook Primary School are barely containing their excitement over the start of stage one of the school redevelopment.
Education Minister Lynne Kosky and Gembrook MP Tammy Lobato both got the chance to see the beginning of the construction process last week during a tour of the site.
The school has been granted $3.6 million from the State Government for both stages of the project that includes eight new permanent classrooms, an art room, multipurpose rooms, a new administration block, a canteen, a firstaid room and toilets.
School principal Mark Carver said the work was moving quickly on the project with the construction crews already two weeks ahead of schedule.
Mr Carver said stage one of the project would be finished by late April 2007, while stage two was expected to be finished by December.
He said since construction of the new buildings started in early October there has been a real buzz of excitement around the school.
“The site manager and his support staff have even come along to the school assembly to tell the children what they are doing to keep them in touch with the building project.”
