LED by Quenten Lucas, Emerald’s Agrade bowlers restricted Pakenham to 190 in its dayone clash at home on Saturday.
Clinton Marsh and Lucas opened the bowling and got the Bombers off to a good start.
Lucas, in his fifth over, picked up two wickets to have Pakenham 2/31 after 10.
He continued bowling right through the session and by tea had four wickets and a runout with the score 5/120.
The Bombers continued after tea with Rod Smith getting his first and Lucas his fifth.
The score moved to 7/178 and when Brodie Lucas came on he got immediate success cleaning up the tail with three quick wickets.
The Bombers bowled Pakenham out for 190 in the 63rd over.
For Emerald, Lucas was the pick of the bowlers with 5/54 off 23 overs.
He was well supported by Rod Smith who got 1/47 and Brodie Lucas who picked up 3/11 off his five overs.
Emerald had 14 overs to bat at the end of the day and Tim Sproule and Mark Alenson did a good job to not lose a wicket and pick up 18 runs.
B GRADE
The Bombers visited KilcundaBass and bowled first.
Cam Williams and Adam Failla restricted the score 1/14 off the first 10 overs.
It wasn’t until there was a run out in the 39th over that the second wicket fell and at tea KilcundaBass was 2/93.
Euan Thoms and Donald Alenson both bowled great spells either side of tea and were both very unlucky not to get a wicket.
Mick Borkowski came on at the end and took two wickets as the score ended up on 5/222 after the 70 overs.
D GRADE
The Bombers hosted Pakenham UpperToomuc at Emerald and bowled it out for 75 after 44 overs.
Andrew Rolfs and Aaron Cameron opened the bowling and each took two wickets.
Lee Ligtermoet continued on his good form getting 4/18 and Dan Leversha took 2/13.
Emerald then had a bat and after an early wicket, Cory Sweeney and Aaron Cameron took the score to 57 before the latter was out for 18.
Sweeney was out a couple of overs before stumps for a wellmade 42 and the score at stumps was 3/93.
E GRADE
Emerald played Pakenham UpperToomuc, batted first and after the loss of an early wicket, Byron Sidwell and Zeb Quigley batted in a patient stand that lasted 25 overs and took the score to 30.
Sidwell was out for 15 and soon after Quigley for 17.
Mark O’Brien (15), Ali Semaiha (27) and Cal Benoiton batted well and the Bombers almost reached their 70 overs for 110 on a slow ground.
F GRADE
The onedayers played away against Pakenham UpperToomuc (PUT).
Emerald lost the toss and was asked to bat, posting a score of 8/236.
Geoff Worrell came in at three and made a quickfire 36, followed by Jim Burke and Owen Thorne, all batting well to bring up their 50.
Tim Robinson with 31 and Greg Doherty with 17 not out batted well at the end.
In reply the Bomber bowlers were always on top as PUT made 8/124.
Emerald’s Tim Robinson 2/6, Dave Barlow 2/11 and Kevin Stapleton 2/27 were the best bowlers.
UNDER 17 BLACK
Emerald played away at Pakenham and batted first.
Byron Sidwell and Zeb Quigley got off to a good start to take the score to 0/25 off 14 overs.
The Bombers then lost some quick wickets and Euan Thoms and Dan Leversha took the score to 4/101.
The Bombers then had another collapse as they ended up being bowled out for 114 in the 36th over.
Thoms 33 was well supported by Leversha 14 and Rob Wynne with 12 not out.
UNDER 15 BLACK
Emerald played Beacy Tigers and bowled.
The young Bombers bowled well and restricted the Tigers to 102 in their 40 overs.
Tom Baldock (2/8) bowled well and Andrew Alenson came on late for 3/22 off five overs.
Other wicket takers included Tyler Sidwell, Tye Johnston and Nick Lang.
UNDER 13 REDBACKS
Emerald played Beacy Saints and batted.
Off 35 overs the Redbacks did very well to get the score of 158.
For the Redbacks, Hayden Smith (40 not out) was supported by Thomas Murray with 31 and Alex Chan with 25.
CLUB NOTES
Former Australian Test player Jim Higgs will visit the club this Thursday for training and a talk.
On Sunday the 19 November there will be a junior coaching day starting at 10am.
