Nyora scores a quick win

NYORA won its first Twebty20 match of the season by 25 runs against Catani in a goodstandard game on Sunday.
Nyora won the toss and elected to bat. Brian Knight made a quickfire 16 before tiring and losing his wicket, while Mark Pearse continued the scoring with a sesible 24. Quick wickets fell before Rory Gilliate and Adam Tagliaferro put on 28 for the last wicket to bring the score to 148. Troy Schpesi (2/14) and Clint Fulton (2/24) were the best of the Catani bowlers.
Catani openers Nick Close and Owen Fitzpatrick started the chase confidently and runs came fairly easily. Kelvin Toogood took an excellent catch to dismiss Fitzpatrick before Paul Govaars played an intelligent innings of 29 before bowlers Paul Hendry and Rory Gialliate stopped the runs. Wickets fell consistently and Catani fell for 123, 25 runs short. Paul Hendry (3/26) and Rory Gilliate (2/23) were Nyora’s best with ball whiel Nick Close (30) and Paul Govaars (29) batted well for Catani.
