Medical centre smoked out

PAKENHAM Main Street was partly closed to traffic after the Country Fire Authority were called to a suspected fire in the roof of a medical centre.
Lieutenant Grant Russell of Pakenham CFA said no fire was found but a bearing had failed on the building’s airconditioning and it had begun to smoke out the building.
Pakenham CFA had been putting out a small grass fire when it was called to the Eastcare Medical Centre about 3.30pm on Tuesday, 30 January.
Lt Russell said 15 people had been safely evacuated by the time fire crews arrived.
A police car blocked off Main Street at Station Street while a fire truck was used to block access at John Street.
The street was closed to traffic for about 45 minutes.
Fire officers used a large fan to clear the building of smoke.
Teams from Tonimbuk and Nar Nar Goon assisted Pakenham CFA officers.
