One run grounds Bombers

EMERALD’S Agrade team lost three quick wickets to go down to Devon Meadows by one run on Saturday.
The Bombers were chasing 210 for victory and put up a brave fight in the disappointing loss.
Mark and David Alenson got Emerald off to a solid start, but they both lost their wickets before the score was on 30.
Brodie and Quenten Lucas then put together a good partnership and took the score to 63 before Quenten was out for 23.
Brodie was out just after tea for 30 then Andrew Walker and Andrew Ferrier put the Bombers in the box seat when they brought the score to 4/166.
Walker was out for a great 52 and Ferrier followed soon after for 24.
From there the Bombers cruised to within three runs of the total thanks to Wes Wright and Aaron Cameron’s 18, but it then lost 3 quick wickets to fall short.

Chasing the 220 made last week by Pakenham, Emerald lost an early wicket then Corey Sweeney came in and made a quickfire 28.
Jarred Gillespie was looking good at the other end and was the fourth out in the 35th over and with the score on 67.
Lee Ligtermoet and Keiran Thoms batted well before Ligtermoet was out for 38.
Dan Leversha joined Thoms at the crease and the pair brought the score to 5/170 and Emerald looked in the box seat.
However after Thoms was out for his maiden 50, the Bombers collapsed to be all out for 187 after only 54 overs.

Playing against Tooradin, the Bombers were chasing 233 and got off to a good start with Chris Alenson and Mick Vanleewen.
Alenson was out in the 16th over for 17 and from there Vanleewen had good partnerships with Zeb Quigley and Andrew Alenson, but the Bombers could never really get on top of the bowling as wickets fell in constant intervals.
Vanleewen was out for 39 and Mark O’Brien 36 and put on a good stand with Tom Baldock who made 18 but it wasn’t enough as Emerald was bowled out for 174 in the 67th over.

In the five overs Wynne bowled, he got 3/4, while Leversha got 2/29 off his 8 overs.
