Nyora’s runaway win

NYORA’S Bgrade team showed its strength with a big win against Pakenham, bowling it out twice to win by an innings and 42 runs of Saturday.
With Nyora having made 364 and having Pakenham 2/70 at stumps the previous week the Maroons were looking to consolidate their spot in the finals.
Nick Fairbank was the destroyer in the first innings taking 5/62 off 22 overs.
Kelvin Toogood took 2/39 off 16, Nathan Osler 1/13 off four and Adam Tagliaferro 1/9 off two and Pakenham was all out for 153.
Nyora then asked Pakenham to bat again with Matt Hendry stepping up to take 3/48 off 11 overs, Nick Fairbank and Kelvin Toogood took another two wickets each and Nathan Osler one more.
Pakenham was all out in its second dig for 169.

D GRADE

On a much slower wicket it was always going to be tough chasing Pakenham UpperToomuc’s big total of 253. Nyora was in early trouble loosing both its openers early with the score on 14. Brian Knight (25), Nathan Smith (11) and Luke Tagliaferro (10) were the only batsmen to reach double figures. Nyora was all out for 90 and PUT decided to bat again and at stumps was 4/121

UNDER 17

Defending 111 and having Officer 1/4 at stumps the previous week it was always going to be a close game. The Maroon bowlers took wickets consistently, but at the end Officer (9/116) scraped home with two overs to go. Nyora used nine bowlers with the best being Robert Provan (3/22 of eight overs), Luke Tagliaferro (2/21 off eight overs) with Billy Hayes, Aaron Ford and Jade Ellams each taking a wicket.

UNDER 13

Tooradin 4/73 declared and 57 lost to Nyora 5/74 declared and 4/84. The second week of the match saw Nyora bowling again and the wickets fell at regular intervals.
The bowling and fielding was excellent with Jarryd Cheyneon with 3/9, Jack Strybosch 2/0, Jay Breen 2/8. Gavin Hackett threw the stumps down from longon for a runout. The batting was solid with all batsmen spending time at the crease, Jade Ellams (13 not out), Mason Lambert with his highest score of 11 retired, Jack Strybosch (13 not out) and Gavin Hackett (8). With only eight players available on the second day, it was a great team effort.
