Intersection to be safer by design

A REDESIGN of the Harkaway Road and Noack Road, Harkaway, intersection is expected to eliminate a history of singlevehicle accidents at the site.
Casey manager of traffic Paul Hamilton said work on the intersection involved better surface drainage, lane definition and road surface skid resistance.
He said it also dealt with large quarry vehicles leaving Noack Road.
Mr Hamilton said the council supplemented government black spot funds with scheduled maintenance works money to pay for the work.
He said the intersection was among the council’s most urgent priorities receiving attention.
“Works are under way to enhance the safety of motorists and road users in highaccident locations, highlighted in the council’s application for federal funding under the black spot program,” Mr Hamilton said.
“A key priority for the council is to continue safety improvements to the road network.”
