Pakenham hosts CWA group conference

THE Country Women’s Association Pakenham Branch will be hosting the CWA West Gippsland Group Spring Conference on 3 August, presided at by new state president, Mrs Helen Christie. A Pakenham member, Carol Clay, was also recently elected deputy state president. Congratulations Carol.
In recent months branch members have been concentrating on various money-raising efforts in support of the community, and they hold craft meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at which items for their stalls are created. At the branch’s meetings on the first Wednesday of each month, they have enjoyed some interesting talks by local identities, and the business side of proceedings is followed by socialising over a cuppa.
Members let their hair down and acted up at the annual Group Fun Day at Officer hall, with an ABBA routine, a hammed-up Adventure in the Wood, and other skits.
The State Craft Exhibition is being held at St Arnaud this year and six branch members will be going.
Then, from September 24 to 26, the West Gippsland Group Creative Arts Exhibition and Flower Show will take place at Cranbourne Public Hall. Last year CWA Pakenham Branch carried off a good array of prizes for their floral, cookery, craft, art and photographic entries.
Our next cake stall will be held at Coles Plaza, Pakenham, on 11 September, and our next monthly meeting will be on 5 August, at 10am at the Guide Hall, Henry Street, Pakenham.
