Bombers set for Cobra chase

EMERALD’S Agrade team, fighting to avoid relegation, faces a 269 run chase against Merinda Park this week.
The Bombers bowled first against the Cobras on Saturday and got off to a good start with Andrew Ferrier picking up a couple of early wickets.
Despite good bowling, the Bombers then had to work hard as runs came easily on the quick ground.
Donald Alenson came on and picked up an important wicket and then Rod Smith teamed up with Ferrier to help bowl the Bombers back into the game, reducing the score to 7/200.
Brodie Lucas came on in the last 10 overs to pick up the centurion Whittingham and Smith picked up the last two as Merinda Park was bowled out for 291 in the 64th over.
For the Bombers Ferrier was a standout with 5/71 from his 18 overs, while Smith was equally as good in his 19.1 overs for 3/89.
With 12 overs to bat at the end of the day, Emerald lost an early wicket, but then the Alenson pair of Mark and Donald guided them to stumps at 1/22.

Emerald played Nyora at home in the last game of the season.
The Bombers chose to bowl first and got off to a bad start after the score slipped to 0/45 after seven overs.
Then Tim Sproule and Euan Thoms came into the attack and bowed well to firstly tie down the runs and then get a few wickets.
Thoms found himself on a hattrick after picking up wickets in the 27th over and the score on 96.
A good runout before tea saw the score on 4/110.
After tea Sproule and Thoms continued to bowl well and Jay Kleinsmit came on for a good nineover spell that yielded two wickets.
After 65 overs, the Bombers had done well to bowl Nyora out for 248.
Sproule and Thoms were the pick of the bowlers, the former with 30 overs straight to finish with 4/75 and Thoms bowled 20 for 3/83.

The Bombers travelled to KilcundaBass and bowled first.
Andrew Rolfs and Lee Ligtermoet got the Bombers off to a great start as the score fell to 3/5.
After a good partnership, Adam Failla was rewarded for good bowling with a wicket, while at the other end Jarred Gillespie was recapturing some old magic as a brilliant 17over spell produced 1/44.
Ligtermoet came back on and with the help of Failla, got the last four wickets to see KilcundaBass bowled out for 236 after 70 overs.
Ligtermoet was a standout with 4/46 off his 46, while Failla was his equal with 15 overs 3/48.

Emerald played arch rivals Gembrook at home, won the toss and bowled.
After an early wicket Gembrook did well to take the score to 2/112.
Then Brock Barlow came on and bowled a good spell to get three wickets and take the score to 5/160.
Tom Baldock returned and bowled well to get four wickets in the innings for only 40 runs off 15 overs.
Callum Benoiton got a couple of wickets opening the bowling as Gembrook was bowled out in the 57th over for 222.
Emerald had 10 overs to bat and is 0/17.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:F GRADE

The onedayers played Officer.
Batting first the Bombers, led by skipper Gary Santini, posted the good score of 9/210 off 34 overs.
Santini made another 50 retired and was well supported by Neil Gillespie’s 37 and a 34 to Tim Robinson.
Officer had only eight batsmen and Emerald bowled well to clean them up for 63.
Kevin Stapleton was the star with the ball taking 5/13 off his six overs.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:UNDER 17 BLACK

The Bombers played Clyde and bowled first.
Ash Lucas opened the bowling and got a couple of wickets and Chris Bray bowled well to get 3/15 off five overs.
Then Cailin Parker came on and dominated with the impressive figures of 5/13 as Clyde was dismissed for 59.
In the 15 overs the Bombers had to bat they are 0/58, with Byron Sidwell and Dan Leversha at the crease.

The Bombers played a oneday game against Officer.
Bowling first the Bombers did well to restrict Officer to 8/80 off 22 overs.
Callum Thoms (2/15) and Liam O’Sullivan (2/12) were the leading wicket takers.
In reply the Bombers cruised to victory, making 3/147.
Seven players retired on 15 in what was a good batting performance.

The Bombers played Gembrook and were asked to bowl first.
The bowlers were on target, demolishing Gembrook for 73 after 29 overs.
For Emerald Daniel Conn, Alex Cann, Laura Baldock and Nathan Copey all picked up two wickets.
