A GOOD bowling performance by Narre Warren Cricket Club’s turfone team kept St Mary’s to 230 on a good batting wicket in their DDCA opening game on Saturday.
Chris Pentland and Chris Jarrett started well with the latter picking up Cashman early for the third year in a row.
New off spinner, Vinay Tripathi, was brought on early and had instant success, removing Serpanchy.
A good partnership of a 100 was then compiled by Parsons and Byron with the latter finishing with a fine 100.
Wickets fell at the other end consistently with Tripathi and new captain Wendell Perumal bowling in a fine partnership.
Tripathi the pick of the bowlers with 4/70 off 24.

Playing St Mary’s at Sweeney Reserve, captain Steven Woodward won the toss and elected to bat.
The innings started off well with Martin Green and Dwayne Hughes.
The first wicket fell for 33 with Green going for 18. Mark Teeuw and Hughes put on a great secondwicket partnership to have Narre in full control with both players scoring easily.
Good partnerships featured all day with Narre ending up off 80 overs 7/306.
Woodward 68, Hughes 63 and Mark Teeuw 56 were the best of the batsman.

Playing Hallam at new ground Berwick Fields, the opposition won the toss and elected to bat.
Narre started well to have the opposition 2/11, some lucky swinging saw Hallam put together a few partnerships but with solid fielding and some brilliant catching was bowled out for 196.
Best of the bowlers were B. Charles 3/39, J. Leworthy (in his first senior game for the club) 2/13 and B. Jarman 2/37.

Playing Buckley Ridges at Noble Park S.C., Narre lost the toss and was asked to bowl.
On an extremely small ground, the pick of the bowlers were James Hockey (first game) 3/46 and Trent Anderson 2/25.
Buckley compiled 336 off 67 overs with Narre batting for five overs and in reply is 1/10.

Playing Springvale South at Sweeney, Narre lost the toss and was sent in to bat and worked hard to make 198 all out.
Russell Hall played a brilliant knock for his maiden half century, Mark Churchill a quickfire 36 and Matt Brew 10 not out.
Springvale South had 10 overs to face and is 3/20 overnight with Regan Welburn bowling well to take all three wickets.

Narre Warren made a solid start and at tea was 4/118, looking at 200plus, but unfortunately was unable to go on with it, finishing with a disappointing 147.
