Brookers start well

GEMBROOKCockatoo’s junior sides performed well at the weekend and produced two wins.

UNDER 16

Gembrook travelled to Seville for the first game of the season.
The game started slowly before Seville banged on two quick goals. The Pye brothers held the back line together while Ashley Sawyer was getting plenty of possessions.
After quartertime Gewmbook found momentum and kicked two good team goals, which gave the side confidence. Tyson Rattle and Zeb Quigley were getting many possessions.
After halftime, Seville turned up the heat and kicked five unanswered goals, but Gembrook did not give up. In the last quarter Gembrook started to run and produce good passages of play, which resulted in good team goals.
After a much improved effort Gembrook will be looking forward to the next game.

UNDER 13

Playing Mt Evelyn, runnerup last year in under 12s, Gembrook expected a hard game. But Gembrook played well and by halftime had put the issue beyond doubt.

UNDER 11

For the first game of the year the Brookers gave a great performance. They managed to get the ball out of the centre on numerous occasions, which gave the forwards a great chance of scoring. There was also some great tackling and pressure by Jacob Blackhurst causing many turnovers.
