BUNYIP Junior Football Club’s under13 team played strong attacking football to defeat Cora Lynn by 71 points at the weekend.
Cora Lynn arrived at Bunyip with a number of new players added to the squad that played Bunyip in the season’s opening match.
From the start, Cora Lynn attacked the ball and showed improvements to its overall game play.
Bunyip’s ruckman, Alex Wilkinson had a great contest in the first quarter against the Cobra’s Sammy Tyler Fitzgerald, finishing off the work and linking with Harry O’Neil and Matt Ross to carry the ball into the forward line.
Jeremy Monckton ran amok, racking up multiple possessions and a goal. Bunyip had three majors at the first change.
The second quarter saw Pat Henwood come to the ruck, directing his taps to the likes of Sam Dowie and Jamie Hallpike who ran forward time and time again.
Sam Parker was a target up forward and used his strength to create space.
Fitzgerald went to the backline and put on a top display of reading the ball and was the difference when Cora Lynn made a challenge during this term. Both teams added a goal each.
Bunyip rejigged its forward line and midfield for the third term and denied Cora Lynn any use of the ball.
Cody and Mitch Papley got going on the wings, Matt Stewart, Harry Binstead and Will Mitchell won a lot of hard ball, Bunyip adding another three goals.
In the final term Parker capitalised on the flow into the forward line, Bunyip adding four goals.
