Carers’

THE Narre Warren Carer Support Group will hold a barbecue at the Old Cheese Factory, Homestead Road, Berwick, from 11.30am on Thursday 19 October to celebrate Carers Week, which is held from 15 to 21 October.
Narre Warren Carers Group facilitator Carol Ellis has run the group with much compassion and enthusiasm since it started four years ago.
At home Carol cares for her ageing mother who has Alzheimer’s.
The group provides support and information for carers of people who have Alzheimer’s — dementia.
Members meet at the Old Cheese Factory on the last Thursday of the month from 10am until noon and welcome carers of Alzheimer’s/dementia sufferers.
The cost is $5 to help cover costs and morning tea.
Further information is available Carol Ellis, Harkaway PO, Harkaway 3806.
Carol says more than one in eight Australians are carers who come from diverse backgrounds and provide care for different reasons.
