Coach hooped with praise

PETER Parkitny, president of the Pakenham District Basketball Association, last week paid tribute to head coach, Jack Vanstone, for his dedication, time and effort to a successful summer basketball program.
Vanstone has volunteered his time and knowledge to the basketball summer program for 15 years and each year has focused on a different theme.
This year’s theme was for the players to learn to “shoot the ball before you catch it”.
The 10day basketball program was free, open to anyone and, in particular, provided the junior Pakenham Warrior representative players an opportunity to regain some fitness before the Eltham Dandenong Tournament, held at the end of last month.
The basketball program paid off with many of the representative sides playing in finals.
