CLYDE’S Agrade team hung on for a thrilling onerun win against Officer on Saturday.
The Cougars elected to bat, with Callum O’Hare returning to form with 40. Standin captain Jarrod Leontini chipped in with 24 and Steve Madin made 16. Simon Rogers blasted a quick 33 that included seven fours and Mick McGuiness added 25. Shane Jack made 14 and Ian Knox added 18 not out to ensure a competitive total of 7/185.
Merinda Park got off to a steady start with Shane Webster taking the first wicket at 37. Troy TharleAdams then produced a devastating spell, taking two key wickets in his first overs and then with McGuiness took a wicket each in five overs. The Cobras were in dire trouble at 8/86 in the 28th over. However, a rearguard action by veteran Brett Armitage resuscitated the Cobras’ innings with a ninthwicket partnership of 89, the the Cougars hanging on by a run. TharleAdams finished with 5/28 and McGuiness with 3/30.

Clyde hosted Lang Lang and was sent out to bowl. The Swamp Tigers took chances early and were aided by the quick Clyde ground as they raced to 1/128 at drinks. Two wickets to Nathan Lillee (2/34) and Peter O’Hare (2/41) got the Cougars back into the game. Nick Miles (3/45) and Daven Johnston (2/52) helped the Cougars contain Lang Lang to 214.
Clyde opener Daniel Waite made 20 and Mick Bain 17 before three quick wickets had Lang Lang in control at 4/57. Peter O’Hare (67) batted well with an injury, but wickets fell around him. Clyde was dismissed for 162, losing by 52 runs.

Clyde played Tooradin at Rutter Park and batted first, losing three early wickets before Steve Houlihan and Ritchie Bertram revived up the innings. Houlihan was dismissed for 39 after a partnership of 63. Darren Tanner then made a quick 24 as Clyde moved to 5/108. Wickets then fell at a steady rate, but Bertram scored 43 not out in a total of 9/136. Tooradin batted aggressively early before Brendan DeRozario took 3/37. Tarha Shaikh (1/17) bowled well to contain the bats, but the Seagulls passed the total in the 33rd over at 5/140.

The Cubs batted steadily with opener Patrick Harmes (21), A. Miller (21 not out), Zac Clarke (13), Nathan Henderson (11) and Will Crinall (10 not out) for a score of 7/111. Cougar bowlers Harmes (3/16) and Sharak Shaikh (3/11) helped restrict the Bombers to 9/96. A lastwicket partnership of 35 got Emerald across the line.

Cardinia passed the total with six wickets down, with the Clyde bowlers Kane Avard (3/13), Patrick Dawson (1/3), Nick Sadler and Joel Avard both 1/14.

The Cougars bowled first, restricting Merinda Park to 6/109. The fielding was a highlight with three run outs. The Cougars then compiled 79, with Kane Avard making 19 not out and Chris Bassett 15.
