SIX new townhouses will be built at Beaconsfield despite residents’ concerns about overdevelopment of the area.
Cardinia Shire Council received eight objections to a proposal to build townhouses on a 1558 square metre block on the corner of Railway and Beaconsfield Avenues, but ruled in favour of the development.
Councillors supported an officer’s recommendation that townhouses be approved subject to conditions.
Town planners said the development complied with state and local planning provisions.
A total of 27 conditions were placed on the planning permit.
Applicant Cardi Developments said the townhouses had been designed to respond to the surrounding area with established trees to remain where possible.
Two existing houses will be demolished to make way for the development.
