DROUIN Hawks Netball Club scored six wins from six matches, but found the going tough against an improved Moe outfit in round 10 on Saturday.
A GRADE
Drouin got off to an excellent start with precision netball, scoring 20 goals to seven in the first quarter.
The players showed intensity, focus and determination and were well rewarded on the scoreboard. The team also lifted its defensive pressure all over the court, giving Moe little room or space to drive.
Stacie Proctor debuted in her first game up from the 17andunders with ease and won best on court for Drouin.
Goalers Sam East and Kylie Proctor were accurate and composed with Sam East also gaining the second club award.

B GRADE
Drouin started with a different lineup with Jodie Proctor and Felicity Pratt combining well in the goal ring. Felicity set up many plays with her screening and Jodie’s accurate goaling hurt the opposition.
Deb Thomas ran hard in the centre all game, showing her superior fitness. Her excellent drives to the top of the goal circle and Allison Henderson’s feeding into the goal circle were excellent.
Drouin’s defensive combination of Lia Olsen, Kelly Bethune and Kristy Piner dominated again.
Kiera Rees, at goalkeeper, put enormous pressure over shots with her long reach.
Drouin was pleased with its solid four quarters against an improved Moe team.

Drouin had a tough match with little separating the teams throughout the game.
With scores level at threequarter time, Drouin was forced to work hard for the win.
Drouin’s new goaling combination of Lisa Watson and Ashleigh Bryce showed steady improvement with their movement in and around the goal circle excellent.
Venessa and Lyndell Watson both provided plenty of drive at wing attack.
Drouin’s defenders, Rosa Persico, Millie Marriner and Lauren Ablett kept up the pressure all game.
In the dying moments, it was Lauren Ablett who came up with a telling intercept, helping Drouin to win.
The workload of every player was excellent, especially in the last quarter.

Drouin got off to a great start, attacking strongly to beat its opponents to the ball.
Throughout the game the girls concentrated on being accountable for their own players and keeping a tight defence that proved a successful strategy.
Dynamic baseline drives from Kelly Hedley (GA) helped the team to increase its scoring rate.
Alisha Bills, Ebony Dunne and Larissa Smethurst were a formidable combination in defence, intercepting many passes down the court.
Best on court, Ashley Murray controlled the team in the centre, timing her leads and driving hard and fast into the goal circle.

This was tipped as match of the day between fourth and sixth and it lived up to expectations with very accurate goaling by both teams, keeping the scores close.
Courtney Jolly (GS) held space well against strong physical defenders. She had great assistance from Meggan O’Dea (GA) who fed the ball precisely and moved it in and around the ring with patience.
Drouin got plenty of turnovers but, at times, struggled to maintain possession and convert, allowing Moe to stay in touch all game.
It was a great last quarter with Courtney Addison (GK) intercepting regularly to send Drouin back into attack.
With Katrina Wardle and Karina Proctor controlling possession and driving hard, Drouin was able to pull away in the last quarter to win.
It was a great fight by both teams until the final whistle.

Drouin started strongly with Elly Derrick driving the ball and feeding the goalers with great passes. The attack end kept their opponents thinking, mixing up the play.
Drouin’s goalers, in the first half, Jessie Wyatt and Sam Davis capitalised on their opportunities and timed their leads to perfection.
Brittany Dore and Sarah Osbourne rebounded strongly to give Drouin plenty of the ball.
In the second half, Abbey Kingi came on in goal shooter and continued Drouin’s good work, moving the ball around to improve her shooting position.
Alice Goodwin came on in goalkeeper and continued to turn the ball over, giving the goalers even more opportunities.
Taylor Beck, in the centre, played a good steady game putting great pressure on the centre pass.
A strong team performance.
