Fourball to the fore

BRIAN Ford and guest B. Buff defied the hot and blustery conditions to win the fourballbestball Stableford event with 47 points at Pakenham Golf Club on Saturday.
The member/member trophy went to Martyn Farrands and Martin O’Hare.
Downthelines winners were Trevor Chivers/Don Towan 48, Roland Dean/Brian Bateup, Neil Mani/Ray Hewitt, Andrew Wraight/Frank Morris, John Oswald/Hugh Westmorland, Sean Constable/Michael Byrnes, George Coffey/Peter Diss, Peter Butcher/Rod Cameron all 47 and Tony Smith/Broni Jaremczuk, Michael Hildebrand/Grant Emmott, Mick Boyd/Rob Sandiford and Peter Dempster and Alex Green all 46.
Jason McQualter won the B.M.R. Autos longest drive in A grade and B grade went to Ivan Katta.
The McIntyre Painting Cgrade longest drive went to Peter Butcher.
Nearest the Pins saw Cliff Pain win the Golf Shop second hole and Don Towan took home the Pakenham Subway fifthhole award.
Ross Stewart was the winner of the Dante’s Woodfired Pizza eighth hole and Rob Horne won the Hungry Jack’s 14th hole. Visitor J. Bowen was the winner of the Pakenham Pizza 16thhole award.
George Coffey was the winner of the B.M.R. Autos second shot on the sixth.
Don Dalgleish and J. Bowen were the raffle winners.

The Eclectic for 2006 starts with the first monthly medal on 28 January.
Cost for the year is $7 and all monies must be paid prior to starting the first round.
The Eclectic rounds are all monthly medals plus single championships rounds.

The Pakenham Golf Club/Sita Environmental Solutions 2006 ProAm is scheduled for Friday, 10 February.
Entry forms for the AM round are now available in the golf shop.
Hitoff time is 6.45am assembly for 7.30am start. The $30 per player fee includes lunch and morning presentations. Book early as the placements are limited.
Those who do not wish to play you are welcome to attend free of charge to walk the course and see some professional and other golfers competing.

The morning round was Stableford and Brian Degering came in with 44 points to win the competition.
Angie Peluso with 40 points and Jack Munro 39 received two balls each for their efforts.
Down the lines, all receiving a ball each, went to Werner Kerber, Heath Barclay, Doug Booth, Glenn Charles, David McArthur, Scott Hooper all came in with 39 points from Ray Wilson, Brian Doherty, Bob Morrison and Stuart Hare with 38 points.
Nearest the pins went to Steven Levett on second hole and Vile Koroknai won the 14th.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:WEDNESDAY COMPETITION

The morning was played in warm and humid conditions with quite a strong wind blowing with 80 players taking to the course to play a Stableford round.
The winner was John Roberts with 43 points from Tony Vallance 42, Stojko Kresojevic 41 and Tym Davey 41.
The balls went to Marcus Daniel 40, Rex Jobling 40, Brian Bateup 40, Ron Thouliss 40, Andrew Wraight 39, George Coffey 39, John King 39 and Angie Peluso 38.
Glenn Charles was the winner of the nearest the pin on the eighth hole and Angie Peluso took out the 14th hole.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:TWILIGHT COMPETITION

Those looking for a hit of golf on Wednesday evening are invited to play in the twilight competition.
Hitoff times are from 3pm to 6pm and players do not have to have a handicap or be a member to play.
The club’s caterer’s, Sue and Bill provide meals at the end of the round for those who do not want to go home to cook.
A good selection of meals at reasonable prices are available.
Last Wednesday more than 140 players took part. The social winner was G. Miller and the raffle winner was George Single.

Bob Dowse was the winner with 24 points from Shane Wilkinson with 21.
Down the lines: Jill White 21, Brett Harrop 20, Dean Jones 20, Maurie McKendry 20, Marjorie Dean 20, Viki Maxwell 20, Grant Emmott 19, Roger Hamill 19, Davina Milnes 19 and Clint Walker 19 the winners.
Nearest the pin on the second hole went to Naomi McIntosh and Nick DeHey won the second shot on the seventh.

John Roberts was the winner with 22 on a countback from Tony Vallance.

Nearest the pin (second shot) on the 11th was won by Sam Maota and the 16th was won by Norm Coley.

Twentytwo players braved the hot weather conditions to compete in the Sunday ball competition.
Lance Lee was the winner with 39 points from David K Manning 37.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:LADIES

Elly Briggs recently scored an amazing 80 points in a fourballbestball aggregate competition at Lakes Entrance.
She is 12 years old and plays off a handicap of 43.
The win follows her success in a handicap division of the Gippsland Girls’ Championships recently at Traralgon.
The ladies are not playing a regular Thursday competition but those who want to have a round are invited to attend between 8am and 8.30am on the Thursday and there is sure to be other ladies around to hit off with.
There will be no ladies ball competition on this Thursday, 26 January, as it is Australia Day.
The Summer Cup starts on Thursday, 2 February.
