IN a great start to 2007 Beaconsfield senior teams recorded four solid wins.
A GRADE
Beaconsfield hosted Pakenham at the Perc Allison Reserve and the opposition batted first and posted the competitive score of 188 from 38.3 overs.
Best with the ball for the Tigers were was Ryan O’Connor with 3/25 from seven overs, well supported by Jason Dodd with 2/25 from eight.
New fast bowler Jordan Johanes captured his first wicket for the club to return 1/44. Ray Cook and Luke Sibley captured one each also.
With the bat, Kris Fletcher made a welcome return to Agrade with 98 not out and was well supported in an excellent partnership by Don Kerslake who finished with 41.
Luke Sibley reached 54 not out as he and Fletcher saw Beaconsfield to 3/206 from 40 overs.
B GRADE
Beaconsfield also tackled Pakenham that batted first and was dismissed for 82.
Rhys Miller shone with 3/25 off seven overs, Travis Turnbull returned 2/30 and Jarrod Williams was very economical with 2/4 from five overs.
Geoff Bliss and Troy McDermott each captured one wicket.
In reply Beaconsfield made 166 for the loss of seven wickets.
Andrew Mercier opened the innings with 19 and Rick Cook followed with 22.
Travis Turnbull completed an excellent day with 32 runs and was well supported by Paul Benbow with 24. Rhys Miller (14), Jarrod Williams (12 not out) and Matt Ravenhall (12) also made good starts.
Pakenham was sent back to bat for a second innings, finishing at 2/24. Jarrod Williams finished off a good day with the ball by capturing both wickets.
C GRADE
Tackling Devon Meadows, Beaconsfield managed the strong total of 255.
Captain Mick McMahon top scored with 91 including some big sixes, Ross Mitchell hit 49 and Brad Pitcher 28. Dave Lennon, Wayne Heathcote and Brendan Ewert all contributed 19 runs each.
With the ball, Beaconsfield dismissed Devon Meadows for 164, led by Brendan Ewart with 3/35.
Jamie Ingham took 2/30 and was well supported by Matt O’Connor, Dave Lennon and Craig Douglas who all took one wicket. Two runouts completed the innings.
D GRADE
Against Emerald, Beaconsfield had a tight tussle to finally capture a good win.
Bowling first Emerald reached 134 for its ten wickets.
Greg Butler with 2/19 and Steve Grindy 2/35 were the key wicket takers.
Jayden Mack (1/16), John Scales (1/26) and Sam Benbow (1/36) all bowled well to help dismiss the Emerald side.
With the bat Rob Young fell just short of a half century with 49.
Several other batsmen got a start with Paul Dorbolo reaching 15, Greg Butler 13, Alex Benbow 10 not out and Tom Carlyle 10.
Eventually Beaconsfield passed Emerald’s score with three wickets in hand for a solid win.
E GRADE
Beaconsfield faced a challenge against Cardinia, but batted well to post 140.
Best with the bat were Alan Sauvarin with 37, Bevan Pitcher with 31 and David Bruneau 22.
Nathan Boon also batted for 13 runs.
In reply Cardinia was dominant, smashing 1/277.
Only Ben Martin could snatch a wicket amongst a fine batting display from Cardinia.
