Gates back in full swing

ONE of the special tasks at this year’s Rotary Club of Berwick Cemetery cleanup working bee was to restore the Inglis Road entrance gates.
Cemetery working bee coordinator Adrian Funston said a truck wrecked the gates more than 10 years ago and they had since been languishing in a shed.
That was a pity, but full marks to Rotary for doing something about it.
Mr Funston said cemetery manager Trevor Thompson raised the gates issue soon after he started in the job and Eric Boon had them repaired at his business EB Welding at Officer.
“We hope to have them sand blasted and powder coated and the general entrance area upgraded,” he said.
Rotary has conducted working bees at the cemetery each year for about 50 years.
