Hair career gets a lift

PAKENHAM’S Tania Davis has been styling hair for the fashion elite at the recent prestigious L’Oreal Paris Runway shows at the Melbourne Fashion Festival.
Tania and Carl Keeley from Chumba Concept Salon at Warragul were two of eight hairstylists invited to style models’ hair backstage for the runway shows which featured the autumnwinter collection of some of Australia ’s leading fashion designers.
Chumba director Carl Keeley said it was a great opportunity to work alongside some of the best in the fashion industry.
“It is a particular honour for Tania who is in her second year of an apprenticeship with Chumba,” Carl said.
“To be recognised so early in her career and to be given the opportunity to work alongside some of the best in the industry in such a high pressure performance environment is tremendous experience for Tania.
“Each stylist was given just 10 minutes to work on each model so it was challenging but incredibly rewarding to see our work showcased on stage.”
The L’Oreal Paris Runway was presented by Vogue Australia with designers including Anna Thomas, Christine, Fleur Wood, Kate Sylvester, Mad Cortes, Martin Grant, TL Wood and Willow.
Tania said being part of the L’Oreal styling team was considered an honour in the industry.
“It is an opportunity to show our work to the industry and also receive exposure in national fashion publications.”
Tania has had a great start to her career in hairdressing.
In February, she was selected among the top 20 apprentices in Victoria and Tasmania to compete in the national style and shoot competition.
Tania also won two awards at the GippsTAFE Hairdressing annual apprentice competition in Gippsland late last year.
