Hard battle for Maroons

UPPER Beaconsfield’s B-grade team battled hard on the first day of round five against Kooweerup’s accurate bowling, finishing with 8/158.
Rohan Escreet anchored the innings making 32 to be top scorer.
He was well supported by Julian Bayard 25 and Chris Smith, who gained a promotion in the batting order to finish on 18.
The club welcomed back James Haupt from England and he will lead the attack this week as the Maroons try to win their second game for the season.

C GRADE

The Maroons travelled to Lang Lang, won the toss and batted, finishing on 243.
Aaron Gray finished with 4/35, Richard Edwards 3/26 and Steve Thompson 1/23.
Paul Halfpenny also took a wicket after bowling 16 overs straight and Brendan Hennessy was the other wicket taker.

F GRADE

Upper Beaconsfield played against Officer at home in a one-dayer and was captained by Dave McConchie in his first game after returning from Denmark.
He completed a fine double making 50 retired out of a final score of 8/131 and then taking 1/10 from his allotted six overs.
‘Eric’ Ileri made 30 not out and Tim Phillips also just back from overseas made 15.
Officer however reached 6/159.
Other wicket takers were Rob Irving 1/14 and Brian Murphy 1/27.
Unfortunately the Maroons could only manage to have 10 players on the park because the club had so many unavailable players this week and this probably cost them a win.

UNDER 14

The Maroons played Upper Pakenham and bowled them out last week for 115.
But this week they came up against a very good attack and were bowled out for 40.

UNDER 12 RED

The Maroons played Beacy Saints, bowling them out for 98.
Eddie Cairncross took 3/2, Jack Sheppard 3/7, Taylor Joyce 1/1 and Trent Stokoe 2/20 in a fine all-round bowling performance.
In reply Upper Beaconsfield set about its task quickly with some lofty hitting by Jayden Joyce, 24 not out, and Jack Sheppard, 23 not out.
Brad Abella played his best innings of the year making 26 not out with some fine strokeplay then Eddie Cairncross 23 and Taylor Joyce 24 not out pushed the score up to 2/186.
Newcomer Mitchell Brown also made 5 not out.

UNDER 12 WHITE

The Maroons had a good win playing against Upper Pakenham and bowling them out for 80 after making 120.
