Making a difference

A NEW project will train people wanting to make a difference in their community.
Community Living in Pakenham (CLIP) is an initiative of the Education Centre Gippsland, Big House Communities and Outlook.
The project will train people in basic community development through fun and interactive workshops as well as involve them in existing practical projects.
Big House director Andre Van Eymeren said CLIP was looking for people who wanted to make a difference in their local community.
“I believe many people are looking for ways to make a positive contribution, but aren’t sure how to go about it,” he said.
“The CLIP project will give people a chance to discover what they are interested in and what motivates them into action, and it will give them the skills to make a difference.”
The CLIP community development training initiative will cover such topics as:
DISCOVERING your dream for community;
UNDERSTANDING community and the individual;
IDENTIFYING the blocks to change in the community?
HOW to work with others to achieve change.
Mr Van Eymeren said participants would also be involved in six practical sessions of handson community development in existing projects.
