RESCUERS held a trapped man’s head above muddy water after he was thrown from the back tray of a utility that crashed and rolled in Pakenham South on Saturday night.
Police said the 18yearold Kooweerup man was in the back of the Toyota fourwheeldrive ute when it crashed along Hall Road, near McDonalds Drain Road, and overturned into a large drainage ditch about 11pm.
An offduty police officer and a nurse assisted the man, who was pinned down by his legs facedown under the roof of the ute, until emergency service arrived. Local Country Fire Authority and State Emergency Service crews were called to the crash site and helped free the trapped man from underneath the vehicle.
He was taken to Dandenong Hospital with leg injuries.
A Nyora woman, 21, who was a passenger inside the ute, was also transported to Dandenong Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Police have interviewed the 19yearold Beaconsfield driver, who is expected to face numerous traffic charges.
