A ROUTINE check turned into a call for help when Pakenham Police found a man lying in the backseat of a car, his face covered in blood.
Pakenham Detective Sergeant Phil Jury said the man had been picked up by his brother and was on his way to hospital when the car was pulled over in Henty Street about 2.20am on Saturday.
It was claimed the man had been assaulted but police are unsure of the circumstances.
Police called an ambulance and the man was taken to Casey hospital. It is believed the man lives in Pakenham.
Anybody who may have information is urged to contact police.
