ROTARY and the City of Casey will combine to conduct a men’s mentor breakfast at the Casey Civic Centre on Friday, 11 August.
Mentor breakfasts aim to provide an opportunity for young men in year eleven or equivalent to connect with successful and positive male professionals and businessmen.
The forum allows young people to talk with a male model from outside their usual circle of contacts who can provide a different perspective.
Also, mentors hear about contemporary youth issues and to network with other men.
Schools may nominate young people for many reasons, including the lack of a male role model in their lives.
Mentors are charged with the responsibility of engaging with a young person in a friendly nonthreatening way.
They will sponsor the young person’s attendance at the breakfast, interact and have fun.
Breakfasts are planned as a oneoff opportunity to spend a morning with a matched young person, and no further contact will be made unless agreed by parents or carers.
Further information is available from Casey team leader youth services, Mark Briggs on 9705 5322.
