Nyora misses chance

IN a rainshortened Bgrade match, Nyora was defending 193 against Kilcunda Bass, knowing whichever team won the game would take second spot on the ladder.
Even though the bowling was good and tight and scoring was difficult, Nyora failed to take early wickets, and a couple of dropped catches, even though difficult ones, cost the team dearly.
Kilcunda Bass openers Mohascy and Hunt made 68 and 32 and first drop Palmer made 64 to give their team a strong grip on the game.
Nyora then fired and took five quick wickets.
The game ended close with Kilcunda Bass winning by 11 runs, its score 7/204 at stumps.

At stumps on day one Cardinia was all out on 171 and Nyora was at 2/78.
Peter Jenson’s 36 and Billy Hayes’ 21 were handy, but the star was Daniel Morrison, who made his second ton for the season, finishing on 110 not out.
His previous three innings were 44 not out, 145 and 54.
Nyora batted one short, finishing the day 9/256.
The good win is sure to keep the team’s finals hope alive.

At stumps on day one Lang Lang was all out for 141 and Nyora was 1/20.
A good partnership between Jake Hackett and Aaron Cockram took the score to 44 before Hackett was caught on 21.
Billy Hayes was next to go, caught behind on 10, followed by Cockram on a wellcompiled 24.
Luke Tagliaferro made a patient 18 and Nyora was all out for 92.
It was then agreed that Lang Lang would bat again and give its tailenders a bat while Nyora would bowl players it normally wouldn’t.
Lang Lang made 6/118, Adam Carey and Danny Connelly each taking a wicket in their first game and Jade Ellams also taking one.
It was a good effort by the team caught short on numbers.
