VANDALS with an axe to grind are thought to be responsible for a series of graffiti attacks across Pakenham last week.
The Cardinia Shire Council offices, various sports and recreation facilities, and the Pakenham Gazette office were among the places targeted by the vandals.
The vandals used blue paint to scrawl a series of messages and signs around the town.
Police are investigating the incidents and believe them to be related.
The vandalism happened overnight on Friday, 7 October.
The attacks were condemned by Cardinia Shire mayor Garry Runge, who said defacing public or private property was an “insult to the rest of the community”.
“It’s an appalling criminal act and it is a shame that so much valuable time and resources is spent cleaning it up,” Cr Runge said.
“Graffiti anywhere in Cardinia Shire is not acceptable.”
