PAKENHAM Police are halfway through their operation targeting drink driving during the holiday period.
The TACfunded Operation Filter commenced on 23 November and will run until 31 January.
Sergeant Peter Garton of the Cardinia Traffic Management Unit said three people had been charged with drink driving offences during the operation.
He said police were working on the operation in the evenings later in the week including after pub closing times.
“So far we have carried out 842 tests at random breath test sites and road intercepts,” he said.
Sgt Garton said the rate of offences was higher than rates achieved with a booze bus.
He said the operation was targeting those who tried to use back roads to avoid being stopped for random tests at a booze bus.
