BOOK lover Claire Pond of Gembrook has a nose for crime.
The 17yearold crime and mystery novel enthusiast borrows at least 10 books a week from her local library.
“I think I would’ve read thousands of books over the years,” she said.
Her addiction to books started when she was about eight years old.
Her interest in crime and mystery novels came after a friend got her hooked a couple of years ago.
As to why crime novels have grabbed her attention, she said: “I love the intensity and the mystery of it all.”
Her favourite authors are Dean Koontz and Tess Gerritsen.
“Dean Koontz books always keep me really interested till the end,” she said.
Claire admits that she’s not a big television fan, preferring to spend most of her spare time reading.
“If I don’t read for a couple of days, I really miss it,” she said.
Although she works at Emerald library she is yet to read on the job, although she admits it is tempting.
She is showing no signs of slowing down, although she’s unsure as to what she wants to do at the completion of her VCE.
She says she might just stick with the library.
