‘Record’ score on a plate

AN outstanding 63 off the stick Pakenham’s Andrew Villinger was a highlight at Garfield Golf Club last Saturday.
The unofficial course record helped Pakenham Golf Club to win the 2006 Garfield Plate contested by 26 teams from 14 clubs from throughout Victoria.
The event was Stableford with Andrew scoring 43 points off a handicap of two.
Andrew’s round was the lowest ever recorded by a golfer at Garfield and included ten birdies, four pars and four bogies.
Unfortunately a course record could not be recorded due to preferred lies being used on the closely mowed course a local rule on the day.
Andrew’s score helped his teammates Peter Hobson (38 points) Stokjo Kresojevic (31 points) and Rod Cameron to win the plate with a score of 112.
Agrade winner was R. Gauci (13) Yallourn 41 points. B grade went to J. Walkinshaw (17) Trafalgar 36 points.
