Return them or else: mayor

SUPERMARKET trolleys left scattered around Pakenham are a scourge on the town.
That’s the message from Cardinia mayor Kate Lempriere who said council could consider introducing goldcoin operated trolleys or other security measures to cut back the number of trolleys left in streets and parks.
“They are an eyesore,” Cr Lempriere said.
“They end up in drains, stuck in trees.
“They are unsightly and we need to do something about it.”
Cr Lempriere was commenting on a report at a recent council meeting that said trolleys had been abandoned in large numbers over the ChristmasNew Year holiday period.
The mayor said council would look at what other shires were doing to combat the problem.
Coinoperated trolleys were recently introduced at supermarkets in neighbouring Casey.
Cr Lempriere urged residents to return trolleys to supermarkets after they had finished with them.
