State aid sought in car gas conversions

LA TROBE MP Jason Wood has asked the Victorian Government to contribute to the subsidy on gas conversions to car fuel systems.
Mr Wood said the Federal Government rebate would be $2000 for converting a car and $1000 for purchasing a car with a LPG tank already fitted.
“I call on the Victorian Government to match the West Australian Government’s commitment of $1000 a conversion,” Mr Wood said.
He said petrol prices were becoming a major burden on families.
“This is why we decided to provide a cash rebate for people who wish to convert to LPG.
“It is important that we consider alternative forms of energy including LPG.
“I am sure this incentive will assist many motorists who have been considering the change,” Mr Wood said.
The Federal Government also encouraged the States to get on board the program, as has been done in Western Australia.
