TRADER support was always forthcoming for special efforts.
The late Ellis Loveridge would always make a truck available for festivals, and specialistmanufacturing jeweller Jim Drysdale would often come up with something nice for a prize.
During the 1990s Mr Drysdale created plenty of interest when he provided a $1000 ring for a chamber Mother’s Day competition. This was a “lucky shopper” event as a lead up to a Mother’s Day.
Shoppers photographed each week won spot prizes and car registration numbers displayed in village shop windows entitled the car owners to a prize.
A weekly prize made winners eligible for the major prize just before Mother’s Day.
