A MASSIVE 376 run chase faces Cardinia’s Agrade team against Pakenham UpperToomuc this week, after a frustrating day in the field on Saturday.
The Yabbies amassed their big total for the loss of only eight wickets at the end of its 80 overs.
The Bulls spilled eleven chances, as nothing seemed to go their way.
Dwayne Doig was again the main wicket taker, claiming 6/120 from 33 overs. Adam Hobson picked up 1/60 and Luke Turner a runout for the eighth wicket.
Cardinia has a big task on its hands to win the final homeandaway match of the season as they head into the finals.
B GRADE
Cardinia compiled 233 against Beaconsfield at the weekend, a superb effort considering it had collapsed to 6/91 after just 29 overs.
This was thanks to excellent batting from the Bulls’ lower order that had number eight Ryan Kitchin making 49, number nine Bradey Welsh (34) and number 10 Rob Allen smashing 47.
Toby Odlum returned to the fold with 21 and Daniel Strahan continued his consistent runmaking with 33.
D GRADE
Cardinia has already lost to Nar Nar GoonMaryknoll.
The Bulls were bundled out for 111 with Ben Monckton (31) batting well and young gun Travis Welsh crafting 27.
Matthew Argoon (15) was the only other batsman to reach double figures.
The Marygoons then made 5/227 declared. Travis Welsh was the pick of the bowler, taking 2/46. Argoon chipped in with two wickets and Matt Waixel took 1/34.
The Bulls have a tough task ahead of them to avoid another outright loss.
UNDER 17
Playing KilcundaBass, Cardinia made a fine 217.
Daniel Kitchin made 50 and was well supported by Ricky Campbell (44) and Dylan Mitchell (24).
It was a superb team effort from the Bulls and it looks as though they will finish the season with a good win.
UNDER 15
Also playing KilcundaBass, Cardinia was hit around for 151.
Travis Welsh bowled with scintillating pace as he took 5/25 from eight overs.
Brother Bradey took 2/12 and Brett Venn took 1/7.
TWENTY20
Cardinia is the 2007 Kookaburra Cup champions after defeating reigning champs Tooradin at Glover Reserve, Devon Meadows on Sunday.
The Bulls blasted 7/200 of their 20 overs with Ben DaRose smashing 70 off 47 balls. Jamie Glen made 35 off 26 and Steve Patterson a quickfire 29 from 12 balls.
In reply, Tooradin couldn’t keep its early momentum flowing and when Adam Hobson (4/23) was introduced, everything turned pearshaped for the Gulls who were all out for 158.
Cardinia’s Brad Remy took the first crowd catch, earning himself an easy $100.
The organising committee was thanked for its efforts, particularly Mick Floyd of Devon Meadows.
