ON the back of a successful season, Longwarry North harness horseman Michael Hughes has been nominated for a soughtafter award.
His name is on the short list in the Most Improved Trainer category of the awards presentations at the Vin Knight Medal dinner on September 6.
The blacktie function is held at the Crown Palladium ballroom, where many from Victoria’s harness racing industry will gather for the announcement of several prestigious awards.
Hughes is in line for a $1500 cash prize donated by Garry Rogers Nissan.
He has enjoyed much success during the 2005/2006 Victorian racing season, due to finish on August 31.
Multiple success has come from horses such as Flighty Lisa, Ronerail, Hot Trottin’ Rebel, Life Of Gold and others.
Young Cranbourne driver Shane McGuinness has been nominated for the Most Improved Driver category.
Harness racing returns to Warragul on Wednesday, August 16 for the club’s final meeting of the 2005/2006 Victorian racing season.
