DEFENDING 134, Nar Nar Goon’s Cgrade outfit resumed on day two with Lyndhurst Vikings at 1/74.
The Goon could only manage one wicket before the Vikings claimed victory.
Dave Harvie displayed some great bowling, finishing with figures of 3/62 off 23 overs.
The rest of the day was dedicated to chasing leather as the Vikings went on the score 330, Lyndhurst batsman Chris Hasselberger the topscorer with a hardhitting 143.
The main wicket takers for the day were Steve Pimm (3/73 off 14 overs) and Scott Musgrove (3/84 of 13 overs).
D GRADE
Chasing 190, the Marygoons didn’t get off to the best start with top order wickets falling at a steady rate.
At the tea break the score stood at 6/64.
Several batsmen made starts but were unable to go on with the task required, which put a lot of pressure on the middle order and tail.
Andrew Jackson and Stephen Keyworth set about putting some respectability on the scoreboard and showed the batsmen to come that controlled aggression was the key to cracking a tight bowling attack.
When Keyworth was dismissed for 18 the Marygoon cause was not in good shape.
Jason Campbell showed that despite recent form he could still get bat on ball, and with some good running between the wickets he and Jackson put on 35 runs for the eighth wicket.
Nick Smith joined Campbell and by continuing to put pressure on the opposition they pushed the score to 135.
After Smith was dismissed it was up to Fred Hillman and Campbell to survive, as well as try to find the 52 runs to pull off an improbable win.
However, the Marygoons fell 32 runs short when Campbell was dismissed for a wellmade 40.
The team thanked the Tigers for a game played in great spirits.
