THE Warriors women’s team was the only side to compete on the school holiday weekend and went down by only one point in a close battle with Sunbury Jets.
The Warriors were keen to make amends after a poor performance the previous game and achieved that with disciplined basketball, leading the Sunbury Jets by four points at half time.
However the Jets played a more physical game in the second half and reduced the Warriors accuracy at the basket.
The lead changed several times in the last quarter with a layup attempt in the dying seconds just failing to drop, giving the Jets a onepoint win in a low scoring but entertaining game.
Main scorers for the Warriors were Natalie Sallai (10 points), Gemma Craven (5), Liesl Holmes (4) and Phillippa Antoniadou (3).
Scores: Pakenham 27 lost to Sunbury 28.
