ONLY a tipster high on Christmas cheer would confidently predict who will win the round seven oneday fixtures on 13 January after the holiday break, but here are some sober thoughts.
Devon Meadows hosts Kooweerup on the turf wicket at Cranbourne in a game vital to both teams as they strive to keep pace with the current top four sides. The Demons have a versatile team wellsuited to a limited overs game, and should prevail.
It will be an interesting clash at Cardinia between the Bulls and Catani.
The home team relies heavily on the talents of the WGCA’s leading batsman Mark Cooper, and the visitors’ pace bowling attack of Lionel Sexton and Paul Govaars will need to restrict his influence.
The Blues appear to have more batting and bowling options in this form of the game and are tipped to win.
Pakenham appears to be now falling away from the top four teams, and its New Year trip to Beaconsfield is not likely to be a happy hunting ground for the Lions.
Round seven tips, with predicted winners shown in capitals: Merinda Park v CLYDE, Devon Meadows v KOOWEERUP, Pakenham UpperToomuc v OFFICER, BEACONSFIELD v Pakenham, TOORADIN v Emerald, Cardinia v CATANI.
