GEMBROOK MP Tammy Lobato said a new bus service, Route 836, began last Monday from The Chase in the Berwick South area through Beaconsfield and Berwick and to the Casey Hospital.
She said the service would operate from 6am to 9pm weekdays, 8am to 9pm Saturdays and public holidays, and 9am to 9pm Sundays, Christmas Day and Good Friday.
Ms Lobato and Labor candidate for Narre Warren South Judith Graley called at the hospital to see the new service in action.
“Over the next 10 years, $646 million will be spent improving services on bus routes across Melbourne,” she said.
“Over the next four years, improvements will be made to more than 250 routes, including extra services on weekdays and weekends, new bus routes in developing suburbs and more frequent services on priority routes.”
Ms Graley encouraged residents to use the service.
“The improved service will give people greater flexibility to attend appointments, shop, socialise and connect them to the rail network,” she said.
The service will include Berwick and Beaconsfield railway stations.
