BERWICK Village Chamber of Commerce has worked hard to establish its annual Berwick Village Grid Girl competition.
Thankfully, the competition has raised dollars for further promotions and left the organisers with valuable experience and a list of contacts.
The chamber now looks forward to its 2007 contest and grand prix festival in the village to be held two weeks before the big race in Melbourne.
Last week’s postmortem of the grid girl competition held on Tuesday, 14 March turned a profit of more than $5000 after a $1000 donation to the St John of God Hospital.
The chamber last week formed an events committee that has already started planning for next year’s grid girl competition, the grand prix festival in the village and a Spring Carnival Ball.
This contest has been a good activity for the area and, with experience gleaned by the chamber, has the potential to become an exciting annual event for the southeast region.
