PAKENHAM people joined costar of the television hit comedy Kath and Kim’s Peter Rowsthorn and more than 1000 other walkers in a march to increase awareness of mental illness.
The annual Mental Health Doesn’t Discriminate, What About You? community walk was held in Dandenong on Wednesday, 13 October.
Staff and clients from Pakenhambased Outlook disability services joined the march to show support for the cause.
Outlook community services manager Anne McCormick said they jumped at the chance to help spread a positive message into the wider community.
Rowsthorn, who plays Brett, the longsuffering husband of Kim, led the walk through the centre of Dandenong.
State Government statistics show that one in five people will experience mental illness — the most common condition is depression.
The annual walk aims to break down the barriers surrounding mental illness and improve community understanding about mental health.
Neighbours actor Mark Rafferty also attended.
