ENGINEERING professionals employed by the City of Casey now have the opportunity to gain international recognition of their skills and abilities.
The City of Casey has signed an agreement with peak professional body Engineers Australia.
Casey director of infrastructure services Ray Butler said that by combining an official mentoring program with documented competencies, the Engineers Australia Professional Development Program enabled the council’s engineering graduates to gain the pinnacle status of chartered engineer.
He said the professional development program provided the council with an opportunity to showcase, develop and enhance the engineering talent within its ranks.
Mr Butler said the program also recognised the existing talent within the organisation and facilitated the sharing of knowledge through a mentoring program.
He said Casey was one of the first councils in Australia to become involved in the program, which boasted a range of participating enterprises and numerous major engineering consultancies.
“The Casey community will benefit from the program through the knowledge base that chartered engineers will bring to the myriad of projects planned for the municipality both now and in the future,” Mr Butler said.
