Eagles soar at Pakenham

AN amazing three eagles by Mick McManus was the highlight of the final round of the fourballbestball championships at Pakenham Golf Club on Saturday.
Mick McManus and Clint Walker were the winners of the championship with a total of 133.
The eagles were scored on the three parfives – the first, ninth and 18th and no member can ever remember this happening before.
The handicap winners of the championships were Ray Hewitt and Neil Mani (Agrade) with 124 and the Bgrade went to Michael Conroy and Broni Jaremczuk with 118.
The Agrade winners were Rodney Whitehead and Cass Bannister with 59 nett and the Bgrade went to Michael Conroy and Broni Jaremczuk with 60 nett.
Nearestthepin winners were Tym Davey on the golf shop second hole and Geoff Percival took home the Pakenham Subway fifth hole.
The Dante’s woodfired Pizza eighth hole saw Ron Seamer the winner and the Hungry Jack’s 14th hole went to Gary Brand.
John Oswald was the winner of the Pakenham Pizza 16th hole and the B.M.R. Autos second shot on the sixth hole went to N. Loupos.

The B.M.R. Autos longest drive in Agrade went to Stojko Kresojevic and the Bgrade to Michael Hildebrand.
The McIntyre Painting Cgrade longest drive was won by David Leach.
Raffle winners were Beau Wheeler and Ian Mortimer.

COMING EVENTS

This week is the K&S Waste December Monthly Medal followed by Stableford and then Par prior to Christmas.

COURSE CLOSED

The course will be closed until 2pm on Friday (8 December) due to the annual local government golf day.

MONDAY RESULTS

A field of 48 competed in a Par event, the winner being Mark Bell with +5 on a countback from Les Jones.
Downtheline balls were awarded to Alex Green +4, Brian Doherty +3, Eric Butcher +2, Broni Jaremczuk +2 and Ray Wilson +2
Nearest the pin on the second hole went to Douglas Booth. Eric Butcher took out the eighth and the 14th went to Denby Coggan.

WEDNESDAY RESULTS

The 69 morning players competed in a Stableford event.
Blake McGrath was the winner with a great score of 47, followed by Don Dalgleish 42 and Glenn Charles 41.
Downtheline balls went to Brian Degering 39, Bob Morrison 39, Dan Cameron 39, John Kingman 39, Harri Capobus 38, Bert Burniston 38 and Noel Bonne 38.
Denby Coggan won the nearest the pin on the second hole with John Roberts taking out the eighth hole. Keith Rice was the winner on the 14th.

TWILIGHT RESULTS

The competition is under way with hitoff times from 3pm on Wednesdays and meals available after the nine holes.
Members are invited to being their family and friends along for the golf or if they do not play just come along for the meal.
The competition is open to all including members, nonmembers, handicap and nonhandicap players.
There is a $100 prize at the end of the season for the best 12 twilight rounds.
This week saw 100 players take part in twilight on a perfect evening.
The social winner was G. Brown and the raffle winner was Pam in the kitchen.
Front nine
The winner was Scott Gavinlock who came in with 23 points, which included an eagle on the first hole.
Down the Lines went to Peter Butcher 22, Michael Hildebrand 21, Phil Barling 21, Brian Webster 19, Vince Del Nigro 18, Clint Walker 18, Mark Bell 18, Angie Peluso 18, Joseph Kozina 18 and Bob Edwards 18.
Nearest the pin on the second went to David Martini and the second shot on the seventh was won by Michael Hildebrand.
Back nine
Marjorie Dean was the winner with an excellent score of 26 points from Blake McGrath with 23.
Down the lines went to Chris Peeters 21, Lou Russell 21, Kevin Wraight 21, Don Dalgleish 20, Roland Dean 20, Justin Pearson 19, Barrie Seldon 19, Scott Phillips 19, Ron Carroll 19 and Glenn Charles 19.
Nearest the pin on the 14th was won by Keith Rice and the second shot on the 11th went to Mal McKenna.

SUNDAY COMPETITION

The winner was Matt Yusoff with 40 Stableford points from Mark Klaver 39 and Munesh Mudaliar 38.

LADIES

On 30 November 33 members had a beautiful sunny day to play Par.
The winner was Lee Andrews +7, the divisionone winner was Kay Jones on a countback with +1 and the divisionthree winner was Irene Walker with +2.
Nearest the Pin on the second hole was Judith McDonald and the eighth and 14th holes went to Marg Jackson.
Downtheline balls went to Marg Turner with +5, Marjorie Dean +3, Judith McDonald +2, Marg Andrews +2, Marg Jackson +1, June McCardel +1, Norah Gasgard +1 and Toni Owen +1.

COMING EVENTS

The Brett Ogle Day at Trafalgar is this Thursday (7 December) and a bus will leave the clubhouse at 7.30am. Please bring three clubs and a putter.
The January ball competition on Thursdays – ladies will hit off between 8am and 8.30am.
All ladies wanting to play must report to the golf shop before 8.15 am and nominate whether they will play nine or 18 holes before going out to play.
Results of these ball competitions will be done on the first week of the summer cup in February.
The Saturday ladies presentation day and lunch will be held in the clubhouse on Saturday, 16 December at noon. Names required.
Thursday, 14 December is presentation day and lunch. Ladies will hit off at 9.30am and are asked to bring a Kris Kringle present (price up to $10).

SATURDAY LADIES

Leonie Sander was the winner, coming in with 42 Stableford points with the down the lines going to June McCardel 35 and Elly Briggs 35.
