THE CardiniaCasey Community Health Service will use more than $900,000 in home and community care services funding to expand its physiotherapy and speech pathology services at its centres in Berwick, Cranbourne, Doveton and Pakenham.
CardiniaCasey Community Health Services director Carol Fountain said demand for speech pathology and physiotherapy was extremely high and the new funding would help address the increased need in both municipalities.
Ms Fountain said the funding would help pay for more staff and extend service hours.
“There is a real deficit in these services and this will allow us to expand our service to the community,” she said.
The funds will help people with swallowing disorders and help stroke victims improve their speech, and Ms Fountain said both elderly and young disabled people would benefit.
